Unenforced Gun Laws Will Lead To Confiscation

From The Letters To Rush Archives

May 13, 1999

Dittos Rush!

I think that the Clinton Administration may be intentionally allowing existing gun laws to go unenforced. By exacerbating the problem of criminal gun use by neglecting the existing laws, Americans themselves will soon cry out for the confiscation of guns, which is the Liberal Democrats' ultimate goal.

Gun laws and more gun laws are not their goal. But I believe confiscation of guns is.

If Liberal Democrats just came out and said, "We want to confiscate all guns", I'm sure the public would "rise up in arms" against a radical move like that. So, instead, the Liberals are purposely making a lot of laws, not enforcing them, thereby making the problem worse, just as they hoped it would. And this way more and more Americans will become increasingly disillusioned with more gun laws and will eventually cry out for guns to be outlawed altogether. The Liberals will have accomplished their goal, but it will be the American public who will be pushing for their agenda, instead of them. The Liberals don't care who gets the credit, just so long as it's done.

As you said, Rush, Liberals aren't in a hurry. They'll take as much time as they need to achieve their agenda.

On The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, on May 11, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said she is proposing legislation that will ban the sale of all guns to the public unless specific gun models are approved by the Federal Government, specifically the Treasury Department (I wonder if Robert Rubin's resignation has something to do with this legislation?). I couldn't believe what she said.

The fact that a proposal like that is already out there suggests that the Clinton Administration must already think America is ready to give up their 2nd Amendment rights and turn over their guns..."for a safer America".

Sincerely,
Michele Rayburn
